New Orleans Shrimp

Here is one of our favorite 30 minute meals, with ingredients that you can keep indefinitely, for days when you didn’t meal plan, and don’t want to go to the store.  


1 lb frozen shrimp, medium, peeled, deveined, tail off

1 large Vidalia onion

4 tbs butter 

1 1/2 tbs minced garlic

1/2 tsp salt 

3 dashes cayenne pepper 

rice, salad, French bread 


Put shrimp  in water to thaw. Start rice. Chop the onion into small chunks. In a large skillet, melt the butter. Add garlic and onions , sautéing until onions are translucent. Drain shrimp and add to skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until shrimp are pink. Don’t overcook. Add salt and cayenne pepper, adjusting to taste. 

Serve over rice with a salad and French bread. Serves 4.
